VEWS Horses in Rehab

Many of our horses have been owned by a kill buyer and  slated to ship to slaughter the day before VEWS stepped in to save them and brought them into our program.   The following horses are being rehabilitated and will be available sometime in the future.

Freya

Freya is a 13 yo, 14.1h mare with a very sweet personality. She came to VEWS from a Feedlot in NC. She has a kind heart and winning ways. She is affectionate to all, with a very gentle and extremely sweet disposition. She is a very social horse and loves to be with people. We have started her under saddle at the walk. Freya is best suited for light trail riding or a companion horse. She has lost some range of motion in her left front knee; however, it does not seem to bother her. X-rays show moderate carpal arthritis present in her left front knee. She is up-to-date on vaccines, teeth, coggins, and farrier.

Sunny

Sunny is a 12 yo, 14.3h friendly, kind-hearted, easy going Arab gelding. His character traits and his beautiful looks have made him a favorite with our volunteers. Sunny was part of large seizure in Orange County. Due to a lack of foster options in the area, Sunny ended up going to a sanctuary for about 18 months. He is so approachable and social allowing beginners and new volunteers to gain their confidence. He does absolutely anything you ask of him in a calm, easygoing manner. He has good ground manners and stands when ground tied. He is up-to-date on vaccines, teeth, coggins, and farrier.  We plan to begin riding him shortly.
